Claire Diss Pig

Hello!

My name is Claire Diss and I am 12 years old. I raise rabbits, lambs, and pigs. My pig’s name is Huldra, the Protector of Bacon. She absolutely loves belly rubs, baths, and her boyfriend Bart (my market lamb).

This is my 5th year in 4-H. I really love animals, and 4-H has given me the opportunity to learn about and own so many of them. I’ve learned a lot about raising the animals I show like what it takes to produce a product I am proud of (my 2024 pigs placed 2nd AND 3rd in the Meat Quality Assessment Class!). 

Unlike other kids, I don’t live on a ranch or farm and I am not able to keep lambs or pigs at my own home. I’ve been lucky enough to get a spot in the ‘Red Barn’ which has given me this amazing opportunity. I will forever be thankful to the Jr. Livestock Auction Committee, Eagle County, and the Eagle County CSU Extension for providing kids like me such a welcoming space to do something I love.
